In 2021, the International Energy Agency estimated carbon dioxide emissions rose 6% globally to 36B tonnes, and coal accounted for 40% of new energy. With our target global temperature rise threshold of 1.5 deg Celsius being met as early as 2030, we must both capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and produce renewable energy to stabilize our ecosystem.
